Gerrymandering is the only legal form of voter theft.
Workers, our long range plans should involve 1. crushing Citizens United; and 2. getting rid of the Electoral College.
We have been trying to get rid of the electoral college since 1876, and we are still waiting for the revolt.
Our unions need to start training some members to be our shock troops and if all unions would do this and work with our local Labor Councils, it would be a good start. Our members need to know our labor laws, local laws, and learn how to protest in the streets if necessary.
The antiunion people like Trump, Musk and his billionaire friends work together to crush the working people and convince workers they’re doing them a favor and then use them as shock troops against unions and their workers.
All union and nonunion working people must come together and work together to protect what we have now. Labor Councils have retired union members and they could work together to prepare to bring the movement forward.
There is no time to waste. The starter gun will go off in 2025. We will maybe have two years to win back the Congress and Senate in the mid-term elections, and at the same time hold onto our Social Security, pensions, health care and the National Labor Relations Board.
All unions need to help organize the forgotten workers and the unskilled workers. Those without votes and without unions. Technology is rapidly eliminating the craftsman skills, which will make the workers unskilled.
The opening sentence of Father Haggerity’s preamble to the International Workers of the World’s constitution states, “The working class and the employing class have nothing in common so it’s us against them.”
The Crafts Union fell into a corporation trap by creating a skilled aristocracy, which split the workers and made us weaker. This must change for we cannot afford to lose half of our working Army. Also, in our labor contracts we might leave out the no strike clause and just sign a truce.
In 2012 more than a quarter of all political contributions came from just 30,000 people who represented the 1 percent of the 1 percent, 90 percent who spent the most won. Today, we are an experiment in either a democracy, which started in 1787 or an oligarchy, which is winning. The nonunion people, like Trump and Musk, have most all the tools in their pockets to destroy our unions. They have money, they have the courts, they have law enforcement, they have the media, and 50 percent of workers that don’t know this don’t know the history of the working class people. This is the perfect storm to lose all the gains workers have made whether they’re union or not, even our Social Security and Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act. So, now we will have to go way back to the late 1920s and ‘30s and dig up the old labor party books. One book, written in 1964, has the information, The Rebel Voices, an IWW Anthology by Joyce L. Kornbluh, educator, activist, and advocate. The history of our labor...
