Union members at the ballot box to pretend this election cycle is business as usual is to engage in a dangerous form of political malpractice.
Not only do we, union members, have to get out and vote, we have to vote smart and elect people who are union supporters. Every vote matters.
Then we must show just how much power unions have by getting our members to vote for people who will stand up for our rights and support. More than twenty-eight countries are fighting for four-day work weeks in Europe, North America, Asia, Oceania, South America and Africa.
The United Arab Emirates has the most averaged hours worked a week at 46.5 hours followed by South Africa at 42.5 hours. The U.S. has been 40 hours a week.
We have to vote smart, not by political parties, but vote for candidates who support unions and workers. We have to show just how much power we have by getting our members to vote for people who will stand for better working hours at the same pay, fight against right to work laws, support free education up to at least a bachelor’s degree, wage laws, healthcare, among other entitlements that make life easier for the average citizen.
The next election will give us hope or break us. All workers, union or not, must turn out and all retired people who need to keep Social Security and Medicare. If we can pull this off this election win then we will have a good chance in 2027 to get rid of the cancer, which is destroying our country and the world. We also have to fight off the artificial intelligence (AI) which is not only taking jobs but destroying the environment and using water resources people and animals need. The people who lose their jobs due to
AI, what do they do now without a job?
We should be looking at a universal basic income paid for by the AI corporations just to keep people off the streets and to keep our economy funded with spending on goods that would be replaced by labor. All labor, working or not, need to talk to each other and vote Blue to save our country and our way of life.
