Now is the time for the working people who are raising families, who are the drivers of the so-called capitalist system that, in turn, turns workers into slaves.
It is time for healthcare with no out of pocket expenses, child care, sick days, living wages and a four-day for week. If you think this is asking a lot, take a look at other countries. Belgium, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, and UK all have or testing having these benefits. If we’re so great, why are we so far behind?
Greed.
The very rich corporatists call those of us who advocate for these benefits “socialists” or “dreamers” and those workers with no self-awareness or interest to look beyond the term, chime in with the name calling and go further by associating it with “communists.”
Instead of running from the word “Socialist,” we should not care about childish name calling and embrace it proudly, instead. It’s time we got half of the pie instead of the crumbs.
As Carl Jung wrote, There is no coming to consciousness without pain.”
We all need to be represented by unions even the retired. All voters should be represented by a union. Physicians and lawyers and the like have “associations,” which is a fancy word for union.
The Biden Administration is making progress, but he needs help. We have elected officials who can lead this fight, we just need them to reject corporate money and fight for the people. Embrace the fact that the filthy rich would have nothing without the workers, also because as the 99 percent we make the most purchases.
There’s a reason Nordic countries are considered the happiest. They treat their workers the best and with respect.
The U.S. workers working situation will never change until we make them. Before greed took over, the U.S. workers could have one spouse work, afford to buy a home and a nice car and provide for their families. Look at our homeless population today and tell me our system isn’t out of whack.
There are three phases of a general strike and unions must plan for one. Those three phases are: 1. general strike in an industry 2. general strike in a community 3. general national strike We need to move away from being on the defensive and move toward a good offensive. The American Federal of Labor (AFL) could not have held a general strike if it wanted to because they had thousands of different contracts that expired at different times of the year. This was done deliberately so that there is no consolidation of power for a general strike. Also, nowadays, there is no law agency that will support labor, except the National Labor Relations Board (NLBR), which has been under attack and in decline for years. This leaves the burden of change up to unions, and unless unions work together, little will change. We essentially have a combination of job trusts, which are not as strong as contracts, and the courts can break easily because the NLBR will be further weakened and essentially elim...
