What the Gini Coefficient Means

How and why is there such a he gap between the Haves and Have Nots, which exacerbates inequality of lifestyle and wages and promotes a death spiral of the Have Nots by a very uneven playing field in education and healthcare? Without good paying jobs, poor educational opportunities and no healthcare, the poor find themselves in a very dark hole with no ladder to climb out. Faced with this, people go to the servile mode to survive and will do whatever to survive. It is the survival of the fittest, which is one step away from war. The money people who could change this just keep hording more money and depressing the proletariats more by trying to stop unions and taking away their voting rights with voter identification gimmicks. This attack on the workers here in the U.S. is the same thing going on all over the world. If the capitalist system is going to survive the 1 percent must make some changes and invest in using their cash to create manufacturing jobs and not just shifting paper fro...

What Hate Looks Like

In all wars the one thing that always happens is the dehumanizing of the opponent—usually one side will lie and make up names and other propaganda to make the enemy look bad and the other side to look good, and usually each side is on the side of some god. The opponents will just throw crap on the walls to see what sticks or resonate and this type of war tactics has a long history. It is done because most humans have some compassion for each other, but in order to get the opponents to fight or even kill each other, the enemy must be seen as not worthy of living. Usually, this is done to the people lowest on the economic ladder and can be by race, religion or location. There were times in this country when the Irish, Chinese, Indians (both American and East), Italians, blacks, Philippines, or Japanese, were looked upon with disdain. Then there were the religious hate toward Jews, Catholics, Mormons, Muslims and Seventh-day Adventists. Then there is where people live, Ukraine comes to mi...

War on Poverty

Fifty-five years ago President Johnson declared his war on poverty. At this time there are 47 million Americans living beneath the poverty level. Does that number sound familiar, think Mitt Romney and his infamous talk with some of the 1 percent during his failed campaign for president. Billionaire Warren Buffet said there is a class warfare all right, but it’s my class that is winning. He is calling for higher taxes on the rich and the money to be spent on our crumbling infrastructure, free education, and higher wages. The tax on the rich under Johnson was 91 percent. It is now 39.6 percent for those who pay, but most of the rich pay nothing, in fact. There are many corporations that the poor end up paying for their subsidies and who do you think makes up the difference in these tax rate that is less than half of what it used to be? We also voted in GOP people who retooled our war on poverty to a cynical war on crime and privatized a lot of our prisons. The term criminal came to mean...
