Shock Troops

Gerrymandering is the only legal form of voter theft. Workers, our long range plans should involve 1. crushing Citizens United; and 2. getting rid of the Electoral College. We have been trying to get rid of the electoral college since 1876, and we are still waiting for the revolt. Our unions need to start training some members to be our shock troops and if all unions would do this and work with our local Labor Councils, it would be a good start. Our members need to know our labor laws, local laws, and learn how to protest in the streets if necessary. The antiunion people like Trump, Musk and his billionaire friends work together to crush the working people and convince workers they’re doing them a favor and then use them as shock troops against unions and their workers. All union and nonunion working people must come together and work together to protect what we have now. Labor Councils have retired union members and they could work together to prepare to bring the movement forward....

Constitutional Convention

Yes, we, today, are smart enough to rethink our Constitution and should not be afraid to do it. To change our Constitution, 34 states must vote to hold a national convention. To amend the Constitution, it takes 38 of the states to ratify the changes. There are many things that should be looked at—good or bad. The bad things include a long obsession by the conservative movement for a so-called balanced budget amendment. This would make the government powerless to borrow its way out of a recession. The government would have to cut spending at the very moment it was most needed. The cuts would most likely be made to benefit programs instead of raising taxes on the wealthiest and eliminating the inheritance tax. The effort to change the Constitution is being funded by the Koch brothers, Coors, DeVos and the Walton families, who produce op-eds and other positive-sounding propaganda that touts the need for such a convention. At this time, 29 states have voted to a hold a Constitutional conv...

Journalism is Not Completely Dead

While it seems American journalism is dead, take heart in knowing small independents and social media are resurrecting reporting the facts as they are and not as the main stream media’s corporate overlords want it reported. Main Stream Media (MSM) caused outrage by reporting in a biased fashion that San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand during the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner without reporting why he chose to remain sitting. Those who reacted in ugly, derogatory ways against Kaepernick’s silent protest showed their ignorance fueled by the MSM neglect to get his side of the story. It wasn’t until The Intercept gave voice to Kaepernick’s protest did other media start to pick up on the truth.  Kaepernick said, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. … There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” Whether we like it or not, law e...
