About 30 years ago there was a line drawn in the sand between the Haves and Have Nots, and with the years the line got deeper until it was a ditch, but then in the last 10 years the line became a canyon with very little way for the Have Nots to get across. There seems to be some sand being put into the canyon, such as the President trying to get free education to the junior college level for everyone; there are some new labor laws from the National Labor Relations Board, which will help unionized workers; there is the Affordable Care Act; and the progress in fight for $15 an hour wage. We, the workers, must start filling the canyon in until there is no longer ever a line in the sand. If we don’t there will be millions of proletarians trapped in the bottom of the canyon, which could be the equivalent of a modern-day hell. There is hope for the toilers and soon to be toilers recently a mother of a 12-year-old young lady asked how to find to my blog. Her concerns were that there is no honest history books about labor and how we how we have gotten to where we are today. They do not trust our school history books to tell the whole story. This is good for to understand history one must realize that history books at their best is just a person’s view of what happened at a given time and if you have a hundred people viewing at once you get a hundred different views. So, for any given event one must look at as many views as possibly to understand what has taken place and maybe not to do the same thing or if it had a good outcome, try it again. This is why knowing your history is so important and why we need to know it. Not knowing our history can work against us if we are blind when studying history. Competition can be used against the Haves. The Haves possess and, in turn, are possessed by power, obsessed with the fear of losing power; their every move is dictated by the idea of keeping their power. The way of life of the Haves is to keep what they have and wherever possible to shore up their defenses so now we have the Haves 1 percent determined to keep its power and in constant fight with the Have Nots. At the same time they are in conflict among themselves. Power grows or dies therefore in order to keep power the status quo must get more; but from whom? There is just so much that can be squeezed out of the Have Nots, so the Haves must take it from each other. This cannibalism of the 1 percent is a good time for the Have Nots to attack, such as the $15 to $18 an hour minimum wage.
