As of April 1, there are 288 new billionaires added to the list for a total of 3,028 billionaires with a total net worth of $16.1 trillion. This is what is against us. They want slaves and slave wages here like they pay in other countries.
Trump’s Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick wants the slave labor corporations use in other countries to be brought back and have Americans do the work. “The army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little, little screws to make iPhones, that kind of thing is going to come to America.”
It is save to assume if this happened, it will not be at union wages or a livable wage.
Unions memers have to be prepared. Our old ways of doing things will no longer work and the oligarchs know this. All union members must start saving money and not go into debt. It’s time to question the difference between a “need” from a “want” before making purchases of any kind. It’s imperative that we become self-sufficient as possible, even to the point of growing our food and storing dry goods for at least the next three years.
The next three years will be the fight of our lives and way of life, especially with regard to our unions.
This is not the time for vacations, new cars, boats or anything that can’t be paid for in full at the time of purchase. If you’re already paying on these items, pay them off as soon as possible or sale them and stash the cash. Don’t gamble on your future. People are already filing for bankruptcies and the hard times have only just begun.
Be ahead of the game because if labor unions and nonunions go on a nationwide strike you will have a better chance at surviving. This is not a joke for the oligarch want to break unions, take away Social Security, Medicare and voters rights and they’re doing out in the open, but most people don’t believe it could happen here. The sad fact is that it already has begun to happen here.
If this doesn’t scare you, ask yourself how much of a gambler are you? Consider your parents or grandparents, who take care of them if they lose all the safety nets they worker for?
Take all the work you can get, spend on only necessities and save all you can to provide a cushion for six months, if not a year, of money to live on.
Remember, no one is going to stand by you except your union and its members. We have to be prepared to survive for the rest of the year or until we elect a labor friendly government in office.
Don’t get sucked into things that don’t really matter. We can always change things if we stick together. Right now, we need to focus on our jobs, food, shelter, healthcare if needed and our unions while also fight to save our voting rights.
Remember, nonunion corporations with the backing of the current administration will have no problem putting you in jail or just killing you like the “good ol’ days” when they killed Joe Hill, who was shot by a firing squad, and Wesley Everest and Frank Little, who were both hanged, for being union organizers. There were others were martyred and who sacrifice all for your right to work in safety and for a livable wage.
I hope that I am wrong, but what I see at this time is our unions are going to be in the fight of their existence. This is the most perilous time of our life. The life we had is threatened like never before. Unions are the largest organized group of people who can save our country if things keep going the way they are heading at this time. We need to all stand together for power, but we each must prepare and plan to take care of ourselves and our families. We can fight the big fight and not be distracted by worry about things that can and should already be taken care of. For instance, stashing at least one month’s pay and at least a month or even a year’s worth of food, whether the food is staples (pasta, rice, canned goods) and meat or chicken in the freezer. Keep your vehicles' tanks full and if possible a gas can full. It’s in your best interest to also save money for house or rent payments plus extra. This is not new thinking for us old trade workers who had to prepare when...
